Brian Newman, Vice President of Purchasing submitted the winning nomination. In the nomination, he stated "In October, we moved one of our four buyers to sales, so the purchasing staff has effectively been reduced by 25%. In spite of this, the buyers have performed like champs under some stressful circumstances. First they were asked to reduce inventory significantly and did so. Then, when prices started heading up recently, they had to immediately ramp up buying to take care of the companies needs. Forced to respond to the market's upswing virtually overnight, this involved a lot of extra time and stress on their part. In spite of everything, they have maintained a good attitude and have adjusted on the fly. They understand "SALES" is the main focus at Boyd and they do their best to support the salespeople in whatever way they can".
